Vision and Beliefs

At Adam Road Primary School we aim to develop students who treat all people and the environment with care and consideration, accept challenges, collaborate, take responsibility for their learning and strive for success.

Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to Adam Road PS. It is with pleasure that I introduce you to our school through our comprehensive school website. I hope that you find all the information that you need, as a prospective parent or staff member, or as a member of our current community.

At our school, we have core beliefs about how students learn best. I am a passionate leader of these beliefs, and am dedicated to ensuring that every day, our students come to school and have the opportunities for success that every child deserves. Every day, we strive in our respective roles to create the learning environment where this is the most likely to occur. We don’t always get it right – but we are determined in our approach to try our best.

We are currently enacting an ambitious School Business Plan, where our school has been determined in its approach to facilitating changes for our practices for over 2 years. In 2024, some key strategies will come together in this change, across our classrooms. Please take the time to read our Teaching and Learning tab to appreciate our focus on embedding evidence based practices in literacy and numeracy, as well as our clear commitment to trauma informed and positive learning environments throughout our school.

Whatever the purpose of you visiting our website today, I hope that it is fulfilled. If there is anything else you would like to know about our great community, please be in contact with us.

Leadership Team

Our Leadership Team works together to provide our community with strong educational leadership. We do this in a range of ways across the school.

Members of our leadership team work across our school, where each class has a nominated Deputy Principal for support. This Deputy Principal works in collaboration with the teacher, students and parents to ensure best outcomes for all. This includes support with the pastoral care and wellbeing of students.

As per our linked Parent Information Page, parents with concerns or requiring support can make contact with their relevant class Deputy Principal as required.

In addition to this, our Deputy Principals each have workstreams or portfolios which are directly aligned to their strengths in experience or leadership skillsets. These roles ensure that we are embedding the most contemporary practice across all areas of our school, with expert instructional leadership.

Teaching Team

In 2024, Adam Road PS has 13 Primary School classes, as well as 3 kindergarten and 2 Pre-Primary classes in our Early Childhood area. Our classes have expert teachers, carefully placed and selected for their expertise and strengths in teaching. This year, we have welcomed some new classroom teachers, and look forward to their impact in our school.

Within our teaching team, we have a great balance of newly graduated teachers, and more experienced teachers. This mix is critical to our collaborative approach and team. Each teacher brings a distinct set of strengths and skills which we hope to connect to their role at Adam Road.

We know that the partnership that is held between teachers and parents is unique and bound by trust and care. We invite our parents to connect with us in a range of ways. Please see the linked Parent Information Page for contacting your child’s teacher if required.

In addition to our classroom teachers, we have outstanding Specialist teachers who teach as experts in their learning area specialty. More information about the specialist learning areas can be found under the Teaching and Learning tab. Parents can contact our specialist teachers via the information on the linked Parent Information Page.

Support Team

In a school, what happens in the classroom is enabled by so many other individuals and roles. Our school is focused on ensuring that our teachers can seamlessly go about their busy role in delivering outstanding teaching and learning programs.

Special Needs Education Assistants:

Alongside our teachers in classrooms, we have Education Assistants who are at the core of supporting to provide vast opportunities for success to our students. Education Assistants are allocated to classrooms based on a careful balance between funding and identified adjustments required for identified students. If you have questions about how Education Assistants are allocated to classrooms, please chat with the Deputy Principal allocated to your child’s classroom.

Mainstream Education Assistants:

Also within our classrooms, our school employs Education Assistants who support the learning across our early childhood classrooms. These Education Assistants ensure we meet the recommended ratios of the National Quality Standards in Early Childhood, and play a vital role in embedding our teaching and learning approach in our classrooms.

Business Plan

Our School has an improvement focus which is set out in our long term Business Plan. This Business Plan is broken down each year into a focussed Annual Plan. In 2024, our primary focus areas are embedding consistent whole school approaches across our school in English and Mathematics, while continuing to set the preconditions for learning through a trauma informed environment.

Within our Business Plan, our school sets system and student outcome based targets. The National School Improvement Tool is one evidence based audit which is used by our school to map and guide our next steps as a school, aiming for excellence in all domains.
